STUDY AND EXAM REQUIREMENTS IN BIOCHEMISTRY

Study requirements and checking knowledge
Attendance of lectures is obligatory (see enclosed schedule of lectures) (AOK-KA023, FOG-KA023). Lecture will be accepted with final exam. Active participation at the practices and seminars is required (see enclosed program of practices, at Nagyoktatási IV. floor) (AOK-KA024, FOG-KA024). Students are obliged to take lab notes, which have to be signed by the practical teacher at the end of each practice; the labnotes have to be presented and will be checked at the final exam. It is obligatory for students to use the labware and lab equipments carefully and according to the protocol. From the seminars and practices, 3 absences are allowed during one semester. Substitution of missed practices could be performed on the same week with another group. Substitution is allowed maximum 2 times /semester. There is no possibility to perform the missed practices at the end of the semester!! In case of more than 3 absences, the practical course will not be accepted and in this case the student cannot take the final-exam. Signature can be performed only in case of successfully performed final exam, otherwise students have to complete Biochemistry II practical again during the next spring term!! During the semester, one mid-term-exam has to be taken. The MTO will be in written form (test and assay questions) and involves theoretical and practical questions. Test questions to practise will be available on the website of the Institute. Time of the MTO: on the 12th educational week (23-27th of April), topics: blood, biomembranes, muscle, connective tissue and cell adhesion, cytoskeleton, liver, nervous system. Registration for the MTO is required at the 11th educational week at the practical teacher. The result of the MTO will influence the number of topics at the final exam (see table). Retake of mid-term-exam is not possible!! Molecular developmental biology course is one of the compulsory elective subject for the students. (AOK-KA881, FOG-KAC511) Acceptance of this lecture will be with "practical mark" (3 graded evaluation) Medical Analytics (Medizinische Analytik) is one of the compulsory elective subject for the students IN GERMAN. (AOK-KN241) Acceptance of this course will be with "end-semester-exam" Biochemistry seminar is one of the compulsory elective subject for the students. (AOK-KA1631, FOG-KAC112) Acceptance of this course will be with "evaluation" (5 graded evaluation) Exam requirements The students have to take an oral final exam. Preparation for the final exam is to be done according to the theoretical and practical topic lists. Number of topics at the final exam, see table. Students have to sign up for the exam at the ETR. Exams are on the 5 weekdays (students will be informed about any changes), the Institute can accept max. 10 students per a day. Site of the exam is the Institute of Biochemistry (Dóm square 9, 2nd floor), start is at 8 am. Those students who did not pass the Biochemistry end semester exam, can take it again during this exam term (Biochemistry I as an exam course), before the final exam. Sign up for final exam can be taken only in case of successful ESE. Those students who did not pass the Biochemistry end semester exam even during this summer exam term, have to start their Biochemistry studies again, and complete Biochemistry I lecture and practical courses again from September. In case of unsuccesful final exam, Biochemistry II cannot be taken as exam course, students have to complete Biochemistry II lecture and practical again during the next spring term. Repetition of exams is according to the general regulations of the Study and the Exam Requirements of the University. Exclusively repeated exam can be taken on the repeated exam week.
